A New Prescription for Beginner Success 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on January 7, 2008 by shamanAugust 5, 2021

I’m going to give you a piece of advice, based on your question about flashlights that may receive some HARRUMPHS! from the others, but I think it’s valid just the same. Last year was the first time I did not bother to hunt flydowns. I’ve been hunting flydowns for 25 … Continue reading →

Deer Rifles — What Really Goes On 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on December 13, 2007 by shamanAugust 4, 2021 1

Most anything will kill a deer. They are not that hard to kill. There are a few issues at work here. Most of them are stuff that gun writers cannot deal with. They exist in the realm of the shaman. I will therefore don my headdress, grab my turtle rattle … Continue reading →

Moose’s Last Yute Hunt 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on October 16, 2007 by shamanJuly 8, 2021

Mooseboy officically became just “The Moose” after bagging a button buck Saturday morning, closing out his career as a yute hunter. Next year, he’ll be hunting by himself on an adult tag. Let me tell you that it happened none too soon, either. This guy has grown!!! It was a … Continue reading →

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on June 9, 2007 by shamanJune 9, 2022

Everything’s cool here. I have my food plots in. I hope the rain we had was enough to get them going. The new steering package arrived for my boat, The Floating Hole. We’ll probably have a shake down cruise on the Ohio River within the next few weeks. Mooseboy had … Continue reading →

Why do I hunt? 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on May 14, 2007 by shamanMay 19, 2023 2

“. . .So does this make me a Shooter? Am I a Method Man? I probably am. I am probably all these things. I probably am an old-fashioned troglodyte, and that is why I hunt. When I finish out the season with a tag or two still unfilled, call me a Sportsman. When I am up to my elbows in deer gore, you can call me a naked ape with a gun. It is all the same thing, and it is all the same to me. If I go out for the afternoon with my gun or my bow, and fall asleep in the blind and wake up after sundown, does that make me a Sportsman or just another lazy goof?”

Gobbler at the Back Door 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on April 16, 2007 by shamanApril 28, 2021 1

The bird’s in the freezer. The shotgun’s back up on the wall. There’s a stubborn gobbler out in the holler that won’t shut up. 2007 Gobbler season is looking good. It did not start that way. Opening weekend was abysmal. Saturday was constant rain from midnight to after sundown. Sunday … Continue reading →

Moose and I were up in the stand called Campground for the opening of 2006 KY Yute Season. Local sunrise was at 0740. By 0805 Moose had a doe down. He had sent one round from the Garand through both lungs and the heart. Her legs buckled and she crumpled. … Continue reading →

Marking Time 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on January 23, 2006 by shamanAugust 5, 2021

It’s funny how we mark time in our lives. There are the periodic things– the length of time it takes to go through a tube of toothpaste, the time between a change in eyeglass prescription and so on. There are also the one-off milestones. Your first car means something. So … Continue reading →

The Remington 742 has managed to still serve a purpose even after retirement. I took the offending Remington 742 and placed it in a positon of obvious disgrace next to my gunsmithing table. All the other rifles have an easy view of it whenever I open the safe. The message … Continue reading →

Genesis 9:2-4

2 The fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every bird of the air, upon everything that creeps on the ground and all the fish of the sea; into your hand they are delivered. 3 Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you; and as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything. 4 Only you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.
