Hiatus
Cancer has a nasty way of screwing up a Turkey Season.
I did not want to call things off entirely. As it was, I left the oncologist’s on Thursday of Opening Week with a firmed-up treatment schedule and rode straight out to camp. Friday AM is when I nailed my gob.
We did manage to have a Yute Hunt and two weekends of hunting. Angus and I each got a bird and Moose had a wild time on the Opener. However, this past weekend was spent getting me ready for my first round of chemo. That is now behind me.
I live-blogged the activities over on 24hourcampfire.com– didn’t want to muck things up over here with it. I try to keep this place on topic.
Everyone keeps telling me that it’s in the bag. Seminoma reoccurrences are easy to treat. However, easy is relative. It depends on what side of the IV you’re on. Right now, I’d be inclined to agree. However, I sat next to a bunch of hard cases this week. They’ve been pouring the bug juice in for 5 days and now sent me home to rest for 2 weeks before starting up again. I’ll be on this regimen until August or thereabouts.
I doubt I will go completely silent but do not expect much out of me until fall. Moose and Angus will be taking care of the farm. KYHillChick will keep me wrangled and fed. My expectation is that I will be fully ready to climb the ladder at Campground on the Rifle Opener.
