Are Deer Getting Smarter? 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on September 7, 2007 by shamanApril 23, 2021 2

I remember this same discussion over bass many years ago. The question was this: It used to be a sawed-off teaspoon would catch bass. What happened to those bass? Why won’t they bite a sawed-off teaspoon any more? In largemouth bass there is no room for culture. Big bass don’t … Continue reading →

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on September 4, 2007 by shamanJuly 29, 2021

I’ve got stuff still from 1982. My sons are wearing the stuff I started out with. You replace them when they stop doing the job. Some things I’ve learned over the years: 1) Rotate your clothes. To keep scent down, I always have one or more changes for the weekend … Continue reading →

From the 24HourCampfire: Registered: 07/18/05 Posts: 7 Loc: BFE, Kentucky Anyone have any experience with the 50 cal black powder barrel that screws onto a Mossberg 500? Since Angus has been keeping us away from home a couple of nights a week with his bagpipe practice, lessons, etc. We haven’t been cooking at home as much. Hence, we’re not consuming venison as we were. Hence, the freezer is not as empty as it has been in years … Continue reading →

I know. It’s been waaaay to long. However, we all haven’t been down to the farm since before the All-Star break. I haven’t been shooting since then either. Life has been on hold due to drought and heat and work. The big highlight this summer was going up to Lake … Continue reading →

Which 30-06 Bullet? 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on July 5, 2007 by shamanOctober 18, 2024

From KentuckyHunting.net DixieBoy22 which 30-06 bullet? What 30-06 bullet do you like best for deer? I’m thinking about 165 gr. nosler partitions this year, even though it is probably overkill. What will yall be shooting? I shoot 165 grain Hornady SP in all my .308 caliber rifles. It is absolutely … Continue reading →

Blood Trails, etc. 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on May 27, 2007 by shamanDecember 29, 2024

KevinDK asks: How do I make sure I get a blood trail? The higher you hit a deer, the longer it takes to have a blood trail. Basically, you’re putting a hole into a bucket and waiting for something to slosh out. If there are two holes, that’s better than … Continue reading →

Why do I hunt? 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on May 14, 2007 by shamanMay 19, 2023 2

“. . .So does this make me a Shooter? Am I a Method Man? I probably am. I am probably all these things. I probably am an old-fashioned troglodyte, and that is why I hunt. When I finish out the season with a tag or two still unfilled, call me a Sportsman. When I am up to my elbows in deer gore, you can call me a naked ape with a gun. It is all the same thing, and it is all the same to me. If I go out for the afternoon with my gun or my bow, and fall asleep in the blind and wake up after sundown, does that make me a Sportsman or just another lazy goof?”

Genesis 9:2-4

2 The fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every bird of the air, upon everything that creeps on the ground and all the fish of the sea; into your hand they are delivered. 3 Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you; and as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything. 4 Only you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.
