Pro-Gun Control Group Owns Many Gun Forums
I urge y’all to read this article and be warned.
Torstar Owns Company Running Dozens Of American Gun Forums
Here is another link if that stops working:
Torstar Owns Company Running Dozens Of American Gun Forums
A company majority-owned by Torstar operates dozens of gun forums in the United States, on which users organize against gun restrictions, talk shit about mass-shooting survivors, troubleshoot problems with modifying their weapons, and fret over the possibility of reparations to African Americans.
Torstar, the corporation that publishes the Toronto Star, The Hamilton Spectator, Metro, and dozens of smaller newspapers, bought a 56 per cent equity stake in Toronto-based VerticalScope in 2015. VerticalScope operates several hundred different online forums and blogs, including more than 50 focused on firearms, with names like AR15Forums.com, FloridaConcealedCarry.com, M14Forum.com, SniperForums.com, and TheAKForum.net.
Bottom line: A Canadian company that is heavily into activities promoting gun control operates a number of firearms-related forum sites. I am a member of several, although I have to admit the general quality of these sites has dropped off in the past few years.

So what does this mean? Look, I’m not with the crowd that thinks this is an evil plot and it is just a matter of time before the black helicopters are overhead. However, the idea that Torstar is mining data off these sites is a little scary. When you step back and look at it rationally, what any group could mine off any forum just from what is available without even signing up or logging in is pretty frightening.
My advice is to simply beware. In the big scheme of things, it doesn’t make a bit of difference if Torstar owns these forums. The main reason to boycott them is to rob Torstar of the advertising– they’re being paid for every click. Torstar isn’t all that evil either. I mean, yes they are a bunch of leftist statist turds that support the leftist statist turds in Ottowa, but they have very little influence here in the US. They like Trudeau. We like Trump. That right there qualifies them for a ride on the political short bus. They can rant all they want about us being deplorable gun-crazed psychopaths, but we have plenty of that coming from our own Democrat Party. A bunch of wanking whining Canucks is not a big deal.
