Baking soda.

I get a 50 lb bag. It lasts me a couple of years. I take all my hunting clothes and wash them in baking soda. It does a passable job on dirt, and a fantastic job on scent. It’s also cheap.

First I run the washer empty to get rid of all the scent left in the tub. I then wash all my thermal shirts, jeans– all the stuff that might come in contact with my body first. After a full cycle with two handfuls of baking soda, I run a rinse with a handful of soda. I take it out after the spin and hang them in the open air.

I then repeat with all my outer clothing, the stuff that goes on top of the inner layer. By separating inner from outer, I don’t spread the stink from the stuff that’s close to my body.

When everything is dry, I pack it in plastic tubs with a sprinkle of baking soda and let it sit all week until the next hunt. When it comes time to dress, I just shake out the baking soda and put it on.

To give you some idea, I had a nice little buck come in on my downwind side this weekend. He stayed for 15 minutes between 10 -25 yards away, and never once noticed my scent.

Personal cleaning? Baking soda again. I use a handful of it in the shower after cleaning with an unscented soap, I just clean with baking soda, and then put a little extra on the stinkier spots, (pits, crotch and scalp) before drying off.
