Pre-Season Odd and Ends
I just wanted to thank Bracken County for paving the road out in front of deer camp. This was about 14 years in the making. It was about then a couple of college kids came down the road with a GPS unit on their car and turned around in my driveway. I asked them what they were doing, and they said they were out surveying for who was going to get a fresh coat of blacktop. I’m not complaining, but it was a sorely needed. Before they showed up, I was having to mow the middle of the road
I also wanted to crow a bit about the other stuff that’s been happening.
Saturday afternoon, Moose and MooseMama brought a friend down to shoot. They have been doing that a lot lately. Angus has been coming with them. KYHillCHick comes when she can. It’s good to see the next generation starting to find benefit in visiting camp on a regular basis. They’re coming down with little Mooselette this weekend.
Sunday, I was able to get the Ruger Hawkeye and the Savage 99 fully wrung out with freshly loaded ammo. Nothing has really changed with either rifle or their loads in years, but I try to run a little of each new batch before season and double check the zero on the sights.
