Christmas, 2025
The tribe assembled for Christmas yesterday. I roasted a prime rib– a major pile of moo. KYHillChick did all the rest.
It was obvious that folks had done a lot of shopping from their butts. I know I sure did. For about a decade now, I’ve been hitting the websites pretty hard. I’d thought I’d take you through some of the outdoor-related finds.
For the women on my list:

Cabelas/Bass Pro has these Water-Resistant Outdoor Hooded Throws on sale for under $25. Where I saw them being ideal was late nights and dewy morning at the campsite. As soon as they found them, Mooselette and Moose Woman wrapped themselves up in theirs.

I also snagged a good deal on hunting socks, 4-pair for $20.

Moose got a Legendary Whitetails CC vest from me, very similar to the one Angus got me in 2016.

He also got a pair of Muck Boots from KYHillChick

Moose Woman received a Mossberg Maverick 88 12 Gauge.
. . . and KYHillChick bought me a pistol for which I’ve been yearning for years, a New Model Army. This is the 1858 Pietta version with the large frame. If you’ve got big hands, this is the version for you.
This is a Dixie Gunworks exclusive.I’ve already ordered a set of #11 nipples from Dixie. I’ve got hundreds of #11 percussion caps, but I’ve found #10 caps to be quite rare at the local gunshops.
Angus got a Stormy Kromer from me.

The big star of the show was Moose’s new dog, Cardinal. He’s a Coonhound/Beagle mix, just 3 months old. He’s already taught himself to fetch and locked onto a squirrel while we had him out in the yard.
