Fair is Fair
It came out in the marriage conselling with the first wife that I had made a bargain when we were first married:
She could determine what we were going to do on the weekends except for three weeks in April and May and 8 weeks in October and November.
That left an 11 to 41 week disparity in who chose what. Still, the social worker thought that was still highly unfair, and that I should concede weekends in the Fall for things like shopping trips, weddings and such. Needless to say, the conselling sessions and the marraige ended shortly thereafter.
I traded a microwave for the second wife, and she’s sanguine about me hunting any time I want. She’s just happy that I come home regularly and that I’m sober when I do.
Our latest amendment to the marraige contract is that I can buy any firearm I want as long as I match it $ for $ with an accompanying purchase of an antique.
