Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on August 11, 2010 by shamanJuly 27, 2021

From the D&DH Forum: DeerCamp Super Member   Deer season is long, but as you all know the off season is even longer. My question is this, with all the books, DVD’S, magazines, and countless numbers of deer strategies out there, do any of you ever get “burned out?” Here … Continue reading →

What made your most successful hunt successful 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on August 6, 2010 by shamanJuly 26, 2021

My most successful hunts are nearly identical in details. 2003 Opening Day — The Savage Spoke   2007 Opening Day — The Savage Spoke Again   The story is real simple:  I went to my favorite stand, climbed up and sat down. Shortly before sunrise, The Big One came out … Continue reading →

So you STILL want a new Deer Rifle??? 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on July 29, 2010 by shamanJuly 26, 2021

This is a continuation from last year’s diatribe on deer rifles: So You’re Looking for a new Deer Rifle, Huh? Larry Miller, the comedian, used to do this bit about the five stages of drinking.  As part of one of the stages, you find you have spent arguing for the … Continue reading →

What is the best place to shoot a deer? 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on July 24, 2010 by shamanAugust 6, 2021

From Deer & Deer Hunting About this time of year, we all get to talking about a list of “bests.” What’s the best deer caliber? What’s the best broadhead? What’s the best. . . I remember once having a fellow get on AllOutdoors.com (that’s dating me) and ask what was … Continue reading →

I am currently deer hunting with two 30-06 the 7400& the 7600.I am getting bothered by recoil& want to get something with less recoil in bolt action & semiauto.I am looking at .308 & 7mm-08.I would like a opinion on either of these calibers. A Ninety-Niner Speaks Out about Deer Hunting 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on June 19, 2010 by shamanAugust 9, 2024 2

From Deer and Deer Hunting: For the Ninety -Niners It’s funny.  I don’t think a lot of guys get it.  It could be that my hillbilly girlfriend’s all-to-subtle ways are rubbing off on me, and I’m getting so subtle no one can catch my hints anymore.  It could be as … Continue reading →

The Case for Cheap Bullets 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on May 18, 2010 by shamanJanuary 26, 2025

Well, not really cheap bullets. “The Case for the Standard Hunting Bullet for Whitetail Deer,” is probably more accurate, but it sounds like a master thesis. This is just a rant. “The Case Against Premium Bullets” sounds mean spirited and negative. I am going to speak heresy here. I am … Continue reading →

Distance: The Working Comfort Zone — Pt 1 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on March 15, 2010 by shamanMarch 15, 2022 1

The Shamanic Anti-Telepathy Hat 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on December 22, 2009 by shamanAugust 4, 2021

It was in the early post- season that the shaman emerged from his laboratory at deer camp with a proud “Eureka!” “Scooter,” said the shaman, “ I’ve been trading e-mails with my old buddy Nosmo, and we think we’ve got an idea on how to get the anti-telepathy hat idea … Continue reading →

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on November 20, 2009 by shamanApril 29, 2021

Progress Report on the Crossbow 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on October 26, 2009 by shamanJuly 30, 2021

I’ve finally done some serious hunting with the crossbow. I had it out a few times over the weekend in between hunting for turkey with Angus. Nothing really went wrong with any of it. It just wasn’t as much fun as my bow and certainly not like a rifle. For … Continue reading →

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on October 7, 2009 by shamanJuly 30, 2021

(Or is that Moron ?) I got to keep saying to myself “CFAB!” “CFAB!” You’d think, starting way back in July, I’d be all ready for my first season with the crossbow. I am, but just barely. Honestly I missed my target of hunting with it last weekend for the … Continue reading →

A new stand 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on September 20, 2009 by shamanJuly 29, 2021

What Constitutes Hunting Before/After Legal Daylight? 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on September 4, 2009 by shamanJuly 29, 2021

This is a condensation of my comments regarding a thread on D&DH regarding the following question: I’m wondering about legal shooting times for bow hunting, specifically last light… If the law reads you have to quit at 5:00 p.m for example, do I have to be out of the woods … Continue reading →

What is the best slug load? 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on July 14, 2009 by shamanJuly 29, 2021

It is hard to pronounce any slug round as THE round for a slug gun until it has been tried. There are two things working against the average slug shotgun. First, the barrel is usually not permanently affixed to the receiver. You can improve accuracy on a dedicated slug gun … Continue reading →

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on July 10, 2009 by shamanAugust 6, 2021

It always makes me cringe a little when folks start talking about .243 WIN. Mind you, there is nothing wrong about .243 WIN. It’s one of the cartridges that’s on my short list. It’s just that. . . well, see if you can follow this. I’ve been on hunting forums … Continue reading →

Marketing to Hunters 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on June 29, 2009 by shamanOctober 21, 2024

It all depends on the product, and the price, and the claims. Mathews: seems like a good bow, but there are bows out there that will kill a deer for a lot less. Scent-lok: I’ve always been leery of this technology, the price is prohibitive, and a liberal dose of … Continue reading →

Genesis 9:2-4

2 The fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every bird of the air, upon everything that creeps on the ground and all the fish of the sea; into your hand they are delivered. 3 Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you; and as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything. 4 Only you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.
