The Dust Settles
The upgrade to the new theme went better than suspected. In this sort of thing, there are things you gain and things you lose. Overall, this was a very positive deal. It was a lot of hard work to make things look pretty much like they did before I started.
- Mobile devices are now supported– A growing number of folks are using their I-Pads and Androids and such to drop in– fully 1/3 of the visitors.
- There are now all sorts of little gadgets and do-dads to help folks navigate. My favorite is the “breadcrumb” trail at the top of the posts that lets you know where you are.
- You should be getting pages served up faster. Weaver II supports caching under W3 Total Cache. Now that the pages are cached, you should see them sooner after you click on something.
The one loss was the crawlers. I had to sacrifice them. At first they looked like they were going to work, but it was a toss-up between the caching and the flash crawlers. I figured fast was better than fancy.
