I’ve mentioned the NOAA/NWS Long Range prediction products a few times. I find them useful in planning my hunts. About a month ago, the site went dead. I found where they moved the pages:
Remember, these don’t read like your normal TV weathermap. A is Above. B is Below, and EC is Equal Chance.  Dark colors don’t necessarily mean Colder, or Hotter or Wetter or Drier. The maps shows the probability of above/below normal temperature and precipitation for the period. The deviation might be small, but he probabiltiy may be high.
I got in the habit of watching these maps frequently, because they change quite a bit. Long range weather forecasting is not an exacting proposition. Stuff changes frequently. A lot of folks fault the weatherman, but it is all really running on a knife edge. What I have found is that these maps give you a pretty good indication of what is expected.
So what IS expected? For the Trans-Bluegrass, I’m seeing a fairly normal spring, a hot, wet summer and a warm fall. All that may change in a few days. As of this writing, the last long range prediction was made on 1/17/19. The next update will be in a few days.
