Which 30-06 Bullet? 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on July 5, 2007 by shamanOctober 18, 2024

From KentuckyHunting.net DixieBoy22 which 30-06 bullet? What 30-06 bullet do you like best for deer? I’m thinking about 165 gr. nosler partitions this year, even though it is probably overkill. What will yall be shooting? I shoot 165 grain Hornady SP in all my .308 caliber rifles. It is absolutely … Continue reading →

Blood Trails, etc. 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on May 27, 2007 by shamanDecember 29, 2024

KevinDK asks: How do I make sure I get a blood trail? The higher you hit a deer, the longer it takes to have a blood trail. Basically, you’re putting a hole into a bucket and waiting for something to slosh out. If there are two holes, that’s better than … Continue reading →

Why do I hunt? 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on May 14, 2007 by shamanMay 19, 2023 2

“. . .So does this make me a Shooter? Am I a Method Man? I probably am. I am probably all these things. I probably am an old-fashioned troglodyte, and that is why I hunt. When I finish out the season with a tag or two still unfilled, call me a Sportsman. When I am up to my elbows in deer gore, you can call me a naked ape with a gun. It is all the same thing, and it is all the same to me. If I go out for the afternoon with my gun or my bow, and fall asleep in the blind and wake up after sundown, does that make me a Sportsman or just another lazy goof?”

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on April 5, 2007 by shamanAugust 6, 2021

From the Quaker Boy Forum . . . but back to the original question: What’s in your vest? I’m ready to hunt Saturday with Angus, and what I’ve got in the bag is probably what I’m going to start with when my Opening Day starts on the next Saturday. Here’s … Continue reading →

Fancy Turkey Hunting Gear– the $5 turk load 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on March 4, 2007 by shamanApril 28, 2021

Somebody was asking me the other day about Nitro shells. I said I’d shot Remington Nitro Buffered Magnums for years until switching to Federals. No, he didn’t mean that. He meant those new Nitro custom shells. They are custom built turkey loads that run you about $5 apiece. Nope, never … Continue reading →

The shaman backs into a buck at Newstand 5 (1)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on November 26, 2006 by shamanAugust 4, 2021

There have been many seasons that have ended out in the middle of a field somewhere, with me clutching an unused tag and railing at the heavens for the unfairness of it all. Then there would be the long drive home in the dark, trying to explain to myself how … Continue reading →

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on October 23, 2006 by shamanJuly 30, 2021

Kentucky Muzzleloader season has come and gone. There were no deer on the meat pole to show for the weekend. The Hawken is back on the bench, and will soon be in the safe. It performed flawlessly, but the only two shots were into the ground to empty it out … Continue reading →

Moose and I were up in the stand called Campground for the opening of 2006 KY Yute Season. Local sunrise was at 0740. By 0805 Moose had a doe down. He had sent one round from the Garand through both lungs and the heart. Her legs buckled and she crumpled. … Continue reading →

Worldhunt.com Here’s the link. I posted in a thread on the Deer Forum a few weeks ago. My reaction: tell me it’s just a joke like the Bonzai Kitten site. Then I can laugh at it and move on. Hunting whitetail deer isn’t all THAT hard. Granted, they’re a wiley … Continue reading →

How many shots do I need to sight-in a rifle? Good question. Somebody asked it over at the 24HourCampfire in the optics forum. I won’t point you to it, because it quickly degraded into another pissy flame fest, common to that forum these days. (Sigh!) How many shots do I … Continue reading →

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on January 23, 2006 by shamanAugust 5, 2021

Should you give it to ’em broadsides? 0 (0)

Genesis9:2-4 Ministries Posted on July 13, 2005 by shamanApril 23, 2021

Over at the 24hourcampfire, we were all jawing about whether or not it’s important to wait for a broadside shot. Flinch made the following statement that summed up the feelings of many there: “I take the shot that is offered. Broudside shots are way over rated. From any angle, it … Continue reading →

Genesis 9:2-4

2 The fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every bird of the air, upon everything that creeps on the ground and all the fish of the sea; into your hand they are delivered. 3 Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you; and as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything. 4 Only you shall not eat flesh with its life, that is, its blood.
