One Month to Go — 1 Comment

  1. I just can’t believe it is finally here (almost). I love turkey hunting more than any other type of outdoor activity, fishing included. I am so fortunate that my KY season starts a few days early this year. My Father and I were drawn to hunt the Land Between the Lakes turkey quota hunt this year. I get to hunt next Tuesday and Wednesday before the state-wide season opens. I killed a beautiful mature gobbler at LBL in 2015, on my first ever turkey hunt there. I unfortunately did not get drawn for the hunt in 2016, but 2017 found me as a winner.

That being said, I have not really done any preparation. I replaced three of my mouth calls with new ones, and bought a new pair of camo pants to replace my old faded pair, and that is it. But I feel prepared. I have never had a problem just picking up a turkey call after a year away from them and making the sounds that always seem to lure a turkey into range.

I’ve only got one goal this year. I would like to end my father’s turkey hunting dry spell, and see him harvest a turkey. It’s been a couple of years for him.
