Trip to the farm
Moose, Mooselette, and I went to the farm over the weekend. There was lots happening.
When I pulled up Friday noon, there were more truck parked along the road than I’ve ever seen. It looked like an auction or something. It was the concrete contractor making maximum effort to get ready for the basement floor pour. That’s coming this week.

I did not spend a whole lot of time hanging about. My focus was out in the fields. The food plots had finally gotten rain–2 inches over 4 days. I hopped on the ATV and rode out to see. I was a bit disappointed. If I cocked my head just right, I could see a hint of green on top of the dirt. That was about it. However, by Saturday AM, growth was much more pronounced. What’s more, the deer and turkey have already found it, and they’re out everywhere munching.

Saturday AM, the Mooselette and I went out and started getting the deer blinds decorated for season. So far, we have Campground and Hollywood complete. A couple more are going to take more maintenance. The goal is to have everything straightened out by the end of next weekend as the week after is early Yute Season.
Moose and Mooselette spent Saturday PM assembling the second of two tower blinds. I picked them up on sale on Sportsmansguide.com.

I was just the photographer on this project. Moose and Mooselette had no problem getting the blind assembled, moved and erected. It’s lightweight, but sturdy. Overall, I’d say it was a steal at under $280 shipped. Watch the sales. Be advised: if you’re small and sit on 5 gallon buckets, you might squeeze two folks into this blind. One of us in a folding chair fills the space nicely. It’s a roomy 1 man stand for our needs. It’s a full 4X4 feet.
The venue is overlooking the new food plot near Fountain Square. We’ve seen a lot of deer coming from this direction before. It has bedding, 2 ponds, a cedar thicket all within a couple hundred yards.
Before leaving on Sunday, Mooselette tried shooting O.T.’s 25-06. See OT and the 25-06. Somebody on 24hourcampfire.com read that story and wondered if this wouldn’t make a good rifle for #1 Granddaughter. That was a grand idea. She’ll be shooting 100 grain Speers over 4831SC. Mooselette did all right. The rifle fits her for sure. She didn’t mind the recoil or the blast. This year, she’s cranked. She wants to take a deer.
