Quantum XG Dry Fire Laser Training Cartridge System
Y’all may be getting sick and tired about all of my posts somehow leading back to the chemo treatments, but that is just how it is. It’s been 6 months. I just got done with 2 weeks of tests, examinations, and a CT Scan, and they all came back negative. Still, there are lingering effects, mostly from the bug juice more than the cancer. I still can’t feel my feet due to neuropathy, and my stamina is not what it was, but all this is improving slowly. Back in October, Angus and Moose were down at the farm shooting pistols, and I tried to shoot for the first time since the chemo. Yikes! I was horrible. I could keep it on a pie-plate at 15 yards, but no better. The days of being Dead-Eyed Dick without practice were definitely gone.
KYHillChick bought me a Quantum XG Dry Fire Laser Training Cartridge System for Christmas, and I’ve been using it fairly regularly for the past month. She bought me the 9mm flavor, and I dropped it into my Ruger P95. It comes with a target, a little tripod for your phone and I downloaded the free app to my Android. The switch on the back of the device is where the primer is supposed to go. When the firing pin hits the switch, a laser paints a momentary dot on the target and the app records it. My first results were horrible, much like I’d seen down at the farm in October. However, a few rounds a few times a week have gotten me back to close to my pre-chemo ability.
As I was able to figure out, the main problem I was having was not in my arm, hand, or wrist. Those were not major contributors. My problem stemmed from having no feeling from the ankles downward. Being able to sit down at the dining room table pretty much fixed the issue, but no miscreant is going to wait for me to grab a chair if I ever have to pull. The exercise of assuming a proper Weaver Stance and pulling off 10 rounds over and over got me just enough control that the wild groups got tighter and tighter. I’m pretty much back to normal. I was in Physical Therapy during December, and they gave me a bunch of exercises to help with lower body control. Those have become part of my daily morning ritual, and they contributed a lot to making me more steady on my feet. I can now stand still with my eyes closed and not tip over.
Anyhow, that’s my review of the Quantum XG Dry Fire Laser Training Cartridge System. It’s cheap, it’s easy. It got the job done. It gets two shamanic thumbs-up with peanut butter clusters. Here it is on Amazon:
