Report from Deer Camp I — 1 Comment

  1. SuperCore, my buddy who's hunting for the first time, dropped down about 1600 LIMA. I took him for a ride around the area and then we went back to camp and glassed for deer– nothing showed. The drive was fun; I swear this county's population must double the weekend of the Opener. Everyone was coming to camp– lots of signs, lot's of trucks, lot's of 4-wheelers coming off trailers.

The ribs got eaten– one of my better batches. The bones got thrown to the dogs, and the table cleared for the 'morrow.

KYHillChick and Angus showed up at sundown and after Angus gave us a bagpipe concert we toasted the hunt, ate dinner and we're hitting the rack now. 0430 comes mighty quick. I had to call back to town and have Angus go down to the reloading bench. I'd left my 308 WIN reloads at the house. I tell you, gentlemen, I am living the best of all possible lives. Who else can call back to town and have your wife and kid bring you your ammo?

Angus is not appreciative of the cold weather, so he'll sleep in. I told him he can go out and watch the show from the back of the house. I'll take him out in the afternoon and see what we can find.

They're saying partly cloudy and 41F for sunrise. I'm going to the killer stand and see what shows.

    G'Night from deer camp.
